CAHA 16AA Weekend #1 – Saturday

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

At least I didn't get jarred awake by a 4am alarm

So much for being a responsible blogger, huh? After popping my head off the pillow numerous times in the night to check the clock in anticipation of the inevitable 4am wake-up call, then commuting back and forth from Thousand Oaks to Valencia, I was too pooped to pop. I updated the game scores then dropped off to sleep until it was time to go back for the nightcap. So now I’ll just sort of re-cap the day…..

Wish you were here - It is not too festive at the Ice Station at 5:15am

Lots of close games, lots of surprising scores in the first day and a half at CAHA #1….. The Jr Kings edged the Jr Ducks in the Game of the Weekend, 4-3….. Making the best of a rare appearance on its home ice, the host Heat are taking full advantage winning all three games by a combined 24-5 goals….. The middle of the pack currently includes eleven teams, I.e. 3 teams are perfect and 3 winless; the Gulls can get out of that bottom group with a win in the last game of the day against the Jets….. Things start up tomorrow morning at 6am – Wave v Lightning 93s, which leads to the question, “who did the Wave piss off?” The scheduler gave them two 6am games and one on Sunday night at 8 o’clock.

CAHA 16AA Weekend #1

Friday, October 24th, 2008

The Valencia Ice Station staff just posted the first game results of CAHA Tier Weekend #1 and we can finally christen the 2008-09 16AA hockey season. As expected, the present and most likely, future first place Jr Ducks easily dispatched the SoCal-Hockey.com Jr Ice Dogs, 7-0. In the second game which began fifteen minutes after the Ducks and Dogs faced off, the host Heat knocked off the Lightning 93s, 5-2. Two games are currently ongoing: the BCL92s & Wild on the main rink, and the Saints & Stars Black on the Olympic. Waiting in the wings for the late (10pm) slot are the Gulls & the OC. For the first time ever, I’m going to try to BLOG my way through the weekend. Not sure how motivated I’ll be by lunch time after tomorrow’s 4am wake-up call, especially if I’m distracted by something interesting like the SC football game or highlights from last night’s Governor Sarah Palen look-alike stripper contest in Las Vegas. But I will REALLY try to be responsible and keep this BLOG going through the weekend.
